Hi everyone!!!!
so I think the most effective way to do my updates for the next few years is going to be through this blog… so I hope it becomes a happily situated page within everyone’s browsers
so for my first post I thought I would be giving all the logistical answers to what’s going on first!
Destination: Philippines
Departure: August 13- 14 (will be in California for brief debriefing) August 15 (leaving for the islands)
Length of service: 27 months
Anticipated date of return: November 2010
Job title:Teacher of English [I also will be doing instruction and curriculum development]
Project: Language Flunecy
Other details:- I don’t know where I’m going to be in the Philippines… I could be urban or I could be rural.. They will let me know when I get there
- All of the new PC volunteers will be doing language/culture/site training together for the first 3 months
- During these first 3 months I’ll be living with a host family
- After 3 months it’s my choice whether or not I would like to continue living with a host family or not and we all will be separated into our respective sites
- I also will have the opportunity to do a secondary project with youth/women/health….. I’m really looking forward to that too
- I have 2 days off every month and I can save and use them how I choose [visiting neighboring countires or areas is my hope and desire]
- I’m probably not going to be coming home in the middle of my term. They say it’s difficult to return to your site after you’ve been home for awhile… but I’m hoping to meet my family in Korea during my term.
I will post about my personal convictions of it all soon
